AFTER an Initial Nervous System Mapping Session....What a Potential Body Mapping Session May Look Like:
Of course, there will be variances depending on whether you come to me as an individual or a couple. (As a couple, there will be work that each of you do as an individual, as well). What are your unique needs, goals and desires? What are the blocks that are keeping you from your fullest expression? Again, it starts with your nervous system, and establishing a baseline of safety within your body. We will lay the foundation of co-regulation, attunement and embodied consent.
We are in NO RUSH to 'get' ANYWHERE! We will always go at the pace of YOUR nervous system, and listen to what is most appropriate...moment to moment....oscillating between Safety and "small, doable pieces" of activation so that Safety will always be a visceral place that can be returned to, and you might also have the opportunity to build new neural pathways/opportunities for greater capacity and resilience.
We begin with practices and exercises that map and track your nervous system. And we will always, only go at a pace that is in accordance with what can easily be digested and integrated. We work with embodied consent and boundaries, sovereignty and agency. I want to be sure you are comfortable with both your “yes’s” and your “no’s”.

- When you arrive to your session, we start with safely “arriving” and landing not only in the space around you, but also safely arriving and landing in your body. Let’s also tune-in to the space between you and I. Attunement is particularly important.
- As we move to the table for bodywork, we will utilize communication, touch practices and bodywork to assess and regulate your nervous system. We ALWAYS notice, track and go at the pace of the slowest part of you!
- I utilize cranial work to assess for tension and facilitate vagal flow. Throughout the session, I will always be addressing tension and unconscious holding patterns.
- I work to open the breath and optimize pelvic placement and mobility.
- Assessment continues to legs, pelvis, and to the back body.
- Allowing time and space at the end of the session is particularly important for integration as you transition back into "normal" life!
Throughout this bodywork protocol, created by Ellen Heed, I will be working with 16 postural muscles, where the muscle meets the bone. ‘Where muscle meets bone’ is where we will discover tension patterns, postural influences, scar tissue and potential pain. This is also where messages carried by the nerves to muscles, glands or organs may be strained or distorted. We are also noticing and tracking protective and emotional reactions and responses, as well.
This modality of bodywork delivers effective hands-on work to assess what’s changing in one’s tissue and to notice blockage and scars caused by biochemistry, biomechanics or emotions. As I move through your body, the muscle we’re working with and the emotion that may arise are simply building a bridge from a felt-sense of something...to a possible conversation. Conversations and insights that we might not get to in any other way.
But to reemphasize...your session may look completely different...as your needs, body and nervous system might call for a very different unfolding! Perhaps "arriving and landing in" your body is the whole session! Perhaps "feeling safe in your body" is a new neuro-opportunity for you! And that would be HUGE!
